Jessie
Here are a few of model Jessie from the PoloDigital/Greg Daniels workshop I attended in Houston on January 27th. Comments and suggestions are always welcome so let me have it.
Thanks Mark... constructive comments always welcome. As far as the lighting setup and background I think I've gotten that. The toughest part for me I posing. I guess that comes from the sports/news photog me- I am not used to telling people to stand or move a certain way.
Portraits aren't spot news. They're still life images.
For most newspaper portraits, we have the subject look directly into the lens. This is the "portrait signal" for readers.
Magazines - particularly fashion magazines - don't always use this same signal. Commercial images almost always do the opposite (they're telling a fictional story).
These are all shades of gray, but you'll eventually need to settle on an ethical dynamic range for yourself.
I started this blog because I realized I have too many photos that many people dont see. I am a former tv photographer and still photography is passion. Interested in sports, glamour, fashion and model photography. As a matter of fact its how I got started in photography before the tv job. This is my way of showing my photos to a larger audience. This blog expresses my thoughts and opinions and they are my opinions alone no one elses.

The lighting and posing is a massive leap forward for you. :-)
I would have twisted the model in the top image a bit and shot higher to complement her frame.
Now the tough question: Can you do this on your own?
I alos like the new © you're using.
