I had the pleasure of attending a Scott Watters/Greg Daniels workshop yesterday at Houston Skyline Studio. It was a great learning experiance and I suggest anyone in that has the chance to make one of the workshops do so. One of the models in attendance was the lovely Jen Amber. Makeup was done by the talented Tara Ward of Houston. Look for some more glamour/fashion photos in the next few days.

Heres a few more for this weekends Thunder on the Neches boat races. The race is part of the Champ boat series which is a national tour. Many racers have learned to love the Neches river and for many it has become their favorite on the race circuit.

Port Neches River fest has become a yearly traditon in for the city of Port Neches. The biggest attraction is the Thunder on the Neches boat races. Tunnel Boats and tri-hulls race in different divisions. Several local racers such as Wayne and Hunter Barber (center and bottom) and Jeremy Hebert compete in the race each year. Keep an eye out for more from Riverfest in the coming days.

12 inning effort

The Astros took on the Washington Nationals for the first time this season at Minute Maid Park. The game went into the 12th inning before the Astros pulled away with th 5-4 win. Local product John Patterson started for the Nationals. It was certainly not the outting a pitcher would like. Patterson gave up two homeruns, one to Lance Berkman and another to Preston Wilson. Heres a few shots for todays game.

Opening Day

Well its baseball season and Astros fans have waited all winter for Opening Day. For the first time in 15 years Jeff Bagwell was not the starting first baseman. Bagwell starts the season on the 15-day disabled list. He is unsure if he will ever play again. Opening Day may have been the last time Bagwell will be seen in an Astros uniform. Here are a few shots from Opening Day including the pre-game ovation for Jeff Bagwell.

End of an Era

Jeff Bagwell announced on March 25 that he will be unable to play the '06 baseball season. Bagwell underwent shoulder surgery last year and has been unable to throw since then. Bagwell will undergo another surgery to remove bone spurs in his shoulder. He admits this may be the end of his career as a player. If so Houstons all-time homerun leader has seen his last spring training, his last at bat, his last inning at first base. His numbers speak for themselves. Thanks for the memories, it was one hell of a ride.

As Major League Baseball Spring Training winds down many players are still fighting for a roster spot. One player that does not have to worry about making the team is Astros second baseman Craig Biggio. Biggio started his 19th season with the Astros. The Lamar Cardinals Baseball team had a rough weekend at the Coca Cola Classic at Rice University. Sunday against the Rice Owls wasnt any better. The Cardinals scored only one run off a homerun from Collin Delome. Heres A few shots from the game.

Lamar University's Alan Daniels became the quickest Cardinal to reach 1,000 career points. Saturday night wasnt a career night for Daniels he finished with only 13 points.

Congrats go out to the University of Texas Longhorns for winning the national championship against the USC Trojans. Port Arthur native Jamaal Charles saw limited action but did have 34 yards rushing on five carries. I have met Jamaal several times and have no doubt that he will one day play on Sunday. Beaumont Evacuees

Evacuees from New Orleans arriving at Ford Park in Beaumont. Beaumont officals recieved word that these buses were "renegade" buses and could possibly have armed evacuees on them that could cause problems. All buses were searched and the the evacuees were given medical attention. There were no problems at all with the evacuees and all were treated and moved to the Salvation Army.
